zukunft.bahnhof is a place for change. Over the next few years, an innovative and sustainable pocket neighbourhood for housing, culture, gastronomy, and hospitality will be created close to the Lichtensteig train station. Our project is intended to demonstrate how we want to live together and inspire others to prototype similar showcases. Our guiding principles are:

The zukunft.bahnhof site is located near Lichtensteig train station in the municipality of Wattwil and will be the focal point of the evolving neighbourhood around the station.
The historic town of Lichtensteig represents the renaissance of rural areas that were affected by the post-industrialisation structural disruption. A high density of innovative citizen-led projects, currently makes it one of the most dynamic places in Switzerland.
zukunft.bahnhof is a unique meeting and experimental space. High-quality, sustainable living space will be complemented by a restaurant, cultural offering, and accommodation, as well as in-house consulting services.

guiding idea
One of the greatest challenges of our time is the transition to a future-proof society fit for our grandchildren. With zukunft.bahnhof, we are testing this transformation on a small scale. As an open living, working, and learning space, zukunft.bahnhof brings together diverse people who work together toward a communal and regenerative vision of coexistence. By developing, testing, and advocating new living models, we hope to encourage others to try and replicate similar approaches.
