How do we want to live in the future?

This question guides us at zukunft.bahnhof. We strive for a quality of life in harmony with people and nature. Our development aims to be a model to make regenerative and communal living tangible and inspire a future-proof collective coexistence.

Conceived as a holistic, multifaceted mixed-use development - a unique living and experimental space which includes culture, gastronomy, and hospitality is being created.

We focus on the human need for social interaction. High-quality and sustainable infrastructure allows for lively interaction in various communal areas, but also offers private living space. The goal is a vibrant, social, and cultural mix based on multigenerational living. This fosters resilient networks of relationships that can overcome many of the social challenges of our fast-paced times.

We are currently planning to scale our model in additional locations thanks to our in-house consulting services, which are currently being developed.

How do we want to live in the future? This question guides and accompanies us in the zukunft.bahnhof housing project. Our model-based site development aims to bring regenerative and communal living to life and inspire a way of living together that will stand the test of time. From new forms of local supply to solidarity-based rental models, from sharing platforms to various opportunities for participation: Our site is evolving into a unique and resource-efficient living and experimental space featuring cultural, dining, and lodging offerings. We are organized as a cooperative, and our goal is to foster a vibrant mix of social and cultural diversity.

Three architectural teams developed designs for the site in a participatory workshop process. The zukunft.bahnhof foundation then commissioned Futurafrosch and JOM Architekten with the further planning. The urban planning principles for the new buildings and the renovation of the existing building have been developed and the construction project is taking shape.

The next step is to start the preliminary project, in which the architecture and interior design will be developed in more detail and refined in consultation with interested parties. This will ensure that the project represents a coherent and sustainable solution for everyone.

The Cooperative Freudenau has received a 100 year leasehold from the zukunft.bahnhof foundation and is therefore the developer and operator. The building permit process will begin in the fall of 2025 and we intend to start construction work in 2026 - so that the first residents can move in in 2028.

The housing division of zukunft.bahnhof is organized as a cooperative. Anyone interested is warmly invited to join our cooperative. There are also other ways to get involved.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Become a resident

As a future tenant, you have the opportunity to get involved in the project early on and help design the apartments. Approximately 25–30 apartments of various sizes (1.5–6.5 rooms) are being built, including apartments for the elderly.

Become a coop member

With a minimum contribution of CHF 1,000, you become a member of the cooperative. Membership entitles you to apply for apartments. Every member also has a significant say in shaping the overall development of the project.

Invest

By providing financial support to the cooperative, you’ll help strengthen zukunft.bahnhof—an innovative, nonprofit, socially and environmentally sustainable housing and lifestyle model. And you can rest assured that your money is not only in good hands, but also in safe hands.

Invest

Support our project with a loan — a sensible alternative to the traditional savings account. If you're interested, we'd be happy to provide you with further information.
