Rich arts programme from August 2025

The theatre in the "Bahnhalle" is changing. With passion, creativity and a full programme, the "Verein Chössi Theater" has shaped this venue and inspired people over the past 40 years. From this autumn, the Chössi-Verein will be taking a break from programming. We at zukunft.bahnhof are taking over - and are starting full of energy and with a fresh look into the future. Here are the first highlights:

21 & 22 August: Onyrikon - Corde
An impressive outdoor show by Gardi Hutter's son Juri Cainero's company Onyrikon. An interactive open-air performance with dance, music, theatre and a web of ropes that challenge human relationships and bonds.

More information can be found here (in German)

5 - 7 September: Chössi Theatre Festival
Before taking a well-deserved break, the Chössi-Verein invites you to a wonderful theatre festival. More information: www.choessi.ch

27 September: Indoor season opener with "totätanz" by Simone Felbers iheimisch
We are really looking forward to this musical tidbit between tradition and experiment, which will start at 7 pm on the evening of Lichtensteig's next Super Saturday.

1 November: OLO COMPANY - Soft Spot
The Swedish-based Swiss-Finnish company presents a poetic piece of Contemporary Circus. If you've ever wondered how to balance on wine glasses, you shouldn't miss this very special show.

This is just the beginning. More special moments are waiting for you: theatre, comedy, tap dance and more. You will soon find the full season programme and tickets for the performances on this page. We are currently reworking the arts section of our website, more information will be available from the end of August www.zukunftbahnhof.ch/kultur.

We would also love to actively send you information about our cultural programme. Subscribe to our arts newsletter if you want to be kept up-do-date.

The "Bahnhalle" will be renovated from June 2026. What will remain is its character as a place that connects. What will come is a contemporary and multifunctional theatre infrastructure that opens up new possibilities. After the renovation, the railway hall will once again be a place where arts comes alive - including the restaurant, which will reopen its doors to the public. The theatre will start under new management, but don't worry: the Chössi-Verein will remain an important partner, will continue to contribute its experience and enthusiasm and will design part of the programme in future.

We're not just here to entertain, we want to move people. The values of zukunft.bahnhof give us direction. For us, culture is more than just an event - it has the power to inspire us and set things in motion.

Collaboration is also important to us. Together with the other arts organisations in Lichtensteig, as part of the "Kulturkuchen", we want to strengthen the region and the arts network. This is where new ideas, projects and encounters are created - for us, for you and for everyone who wants to get involved in arts and culture.

We are opening up the Bahnhalle even further for creative people: residencies for artists offer space for experiments, new works and direct dialogue with the region. The Bahnhalle will not only be a stage, but also a rehearsal room and laboratory.

We look forward to continuing running this place as a lively performing arts centre. A place that inspires, connects and shows what art can achieve.
