Culture with tradition and a future:
New momentum for the Bahnhalle
A vibrant cultural scene has long been a tradition on this site. With passion, creativity, and a packed program, the Chössi Theater Association has shaped this place and inspired people over the past 40 years. We are continuing this legacy—with a fresh outlook on the future.
Starting in June 2026, the train station hall will undergo renovation. What remains is its character as a place that brings people together. What’s coming is a modern and multifunctional theater infrastructure that opens up new possibilities. After the renovation, the train station hall will once again be a place where culture comes alive—including the restaurant, which is set to reopen its doors to the public. The theater will launch under new leadership, but don’t worry: The Chössi Theater Association remains an important partner, continuing to contribute its experience and enthusiasm, and will organize its own program after the renovation.
We don’t just want to entertain; we want to inspire action. The values of zukunft.bahnhof guide us. For us, culture is more than an event—it has the power to inspire us and set things in motion.
Collaboration is also important to us. Together with the other cultural organizations in Lichtensteig, as part of the Kulturkuchen initiative, we aim to strengthen and connect the region culturally. This is where new ideas, projects, and encounters emerge—for us, for you, and for everyone who wants to engage with art and culture.
Last but not least, our cultural institution should also be there for artists from the region and beyond. We will continue and expand the Chössi Theater’s “Artists in Residence” program so that artists and groups can rehearse, create, and produce in Lichtensteig. Learn more under Residencies.

Pascal Häring is currently the primary person in charge of planning the cultural future at the Bahnhalle Lichtensteig; he has been overseeing the culture division at zukunft.bahnhof since November 2024. With the support of our cultural foundation board member Mirjam Hadorn, he is setting the course for future cultural operations.
Pascal first became a physicist, then a circus performer, and finally a cultural manager. After spending 10 years in the UK, he recently moved to Lichtensteig to oversee the development of cultural operations at zukunft.bahnhof.
Starting in 2027, the cultural team will be expanded. We’re already excited to see who will join us then, so we can offer you an inspiring, diverse, and refreshing program after the renovation.
