We can't reveal too much about the new program at this point. It's intended to be diverse, bold, and always a little bit surprising. Theater, dance, performance, literature, and interdisciplinary productions—we think of culture broadly. Each year, we create a highlight: one a festival, one an in-house production. This keeps the program exciting and regularly offers something truly special.
We don't just want to entertain, we want to move. The values of zukunft.bahnhof guide our direction. For us, culture is more than just an event – it has the power to inspire us and set things in motion.
Collaboration is also important to us. Together with other cultural organizations in Lichtensteig, within the framework of the Kulturkuchen (Culture Cake), we aim to strengthen and connect the region culturally. This is where new ideas, projects, and encounters emerge – for us, for you, and for everyone who wants to engage with art and culture.
We're opening the Bahnhalle even further for creatives: artist residencies offer space for experiments, new works, and direct exchange with the region. Thus, the Bahnhalle becomes not just a stage, but also a workshop and laboratory.
We look forward to continuing to operate this space as a vibrant center for culture. A place that inspires, connects, and demonstrates the power of art.

A vibrant cultural life has a long tradition on the site. With passion, creativity, and a rich program, the Chössi Theater association has shaped the place and inspired people over the past 40 years. We continue this history – with a fresh perspective on the future.
The heritage protected Bahnhalle will be renovated in 2026 at the earliest. What will be preserved is its character as a place that connects people. What will come is a contemporary and multifunctional theater infrastructure that opens up new possibilities. After the renovation, the Bahnhalle will once again be a place where culture comes alive – this will also include the restaurant, which will be again open for public. The theater will reopen under new management, but don't worry: The Chössi Theater association will remain an important partner and continue to contribute its experience and enthusiasm.
